Prestigious global awards presented to UK franchisees of Tutor Doctor.

It was an evening to savour for a number of franchisees with Tutor Doctor UK who were recognised for their excellence at the brand’s Global Annual Awards Ceremony. Held online during August, two of the evening’s most prestigious titles were scooped-up by UK business partners, while many more were nominated.

Husband-and-wife duo Mark and Joanna Butler, from Berkshire, were named Top Producer, while David Boddy from London collected the President’s Award. Mark and Johanna launched their Tutor Doctor territory in 2014 and already generate an annual turnover of over £650,000.

A thrilled Mark said: “The pandemic – what a year it’s been! But we didn’t let this get us down. We’re committed to our local community, supporting students and families with their learning. We have continued to work with underprivileged children, including young offenders, and have continued to grow our business with private clients. It’s a very proud moment indeed.”

His wife Joanna echoed these comments, by adding: “Getting this recognition makes all of our hard work worth it. We don’t do it for that reason, but it certainly helps to keep us on track and aim bigger next year.” Mark and Johanna were also shortlisted for the evening’s top prize of Franchisee of the Year.

More than 200 of Tutor Doctor‘s global franchisees attended the conference, which gave them all an opportunity to network and collaborate. The occasion witnessed 21 speakers, who discussed a variety of topics, and included key note speeches from best-selling author Rich Diviney, educator Mike Anderson and renowned brand expert Edward Leaman.

As for David Boddy, whose territory covers south-west and central London, he paid tribute to the enormous contributions made by his colleagues Suzie and Victoria, after receiving one of the most coveted accolades of the evening.

The trio have worked with families across the capital during the pandemic, and David said: “It’s been three short years since our launch. It’s an honour to receive the President’s Award. Every person involved in the business, including Suzie, Victoria, and tutors too, should be proud of this. We’ve come together even closer during the last year and made things happen.”

The husband-and-wife team of Rob and Lynne Kerrison, from Cambridge, were nominated in both of the above categories – Top Producer and President’s Award. Other UK franchisees to be shortlisted were: Julian Field (Spirit Award), Jessica Abram (Rookie of the Year), and Piyush Gupta (Rookie of the Year).

And the brand’s president Frank Milner said he was thrilled to witness UK franchisees making a global impact: “Every country has had its challenges to varying degrees and it’s clear that UK franchisees have taken matters into their own hands. Seeing them take control of the situation, supporting families and helping those who are disadvantaged, is extremely inspiring. And to have successful businesses too, makes this recognition even better.”

Tutor Doctor which has its headquarters in Toronto, Canada, began trading in 2000 and now has more than 500 units across 16 countries.
