This franchise phenomenon celebrates the opening of their 250th UK shop.
Few businesses have weathered the recent financial turmoil as well as TaxAssist Accountants. Over the past year, which has largely been shaped by the on-going Coronavirus pandemic, the East Anglia-based franchise has continued to grow. While many companies opted for safety, focussing purely on survival and dipping into the Government’s furlough scheme, TaxAssist Accountants has rarely stood still.
Between July and December of last year, the company opened 20 new tax and accounting shops across the United Kingdom, while adding seven more during the first four months of 2021. Among these new business partners was Karthik Vasanthakumar who joined the network last October. After finding suitable premises in Caterham, Surrey, Karthik enjoyed the honour of launching TaxAssist‘s 250th shop in the UK.
Speaking about his new business venture, Karthik said: “It has been a long-held dream of mine to build my own practice. I’m thoroughly enjoying the client interactions and with footfall now increasing, I’ve had lots of positive comments from clients on the look and feel of the shop. I’m confident it will continue to be a draw as I look to grow the business.”
While many famous and long-standing brands, across an assortment of sectors, failed to survive the recent financial upheaval, the TaxAssist Accountants’ story is certainly a remarkable one. Founded in Norwich 26 years ago, the network has grown consistently year on year. Globally, it services more than 83,000 clients and has over 425 shops and offices.
As well as operating in the UK, TaxAssist Accountants has successfully launched in the Republic of Ireland, Australia, Canada and United States. They specialise in tax and accountancy, providing advice and services for small businesses. This covers tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping and tax savings. Among their wide range of clients and customers are sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and personal taxpayers.
TaxAssist Accountants are particularly proud of their business model, which uses a shop front to showcase the full range of services their franchisees offer. Because of these highly visible and accessible locations, and welcoming atmosphere, these outlets have proved to be the perfect vehicle for attracting clients and generating new business.
Looking back on a year of steady growth for the company, James Mattam – the group business development director – said: “It’s fantastic news that we have been able to continue to open so many shops, especially during such an unprecedented year full of lockdowns. We’re delighted it’s been business as usual, while helping other businesses to benefit from our first-class advice and service.
“There is a growing interest in people wanting to join the TaxAssist Accountants network. This, together with an increased demand for our services, is indicating to us that the network is set for further substantial growth in the future, thanks to our unique shop model.
“Our entire business model has always been concentrated on our clients’ needs. We decided nearly 20 years ago that clients want a retail experience, where they could get away from their own businesses and focus on their finances with our advisers. They often take comfort from the fact that their TaxAssist Accountant is on their side and part of their team.
“They want their finances managed well and, wherever possible, their tax bill reduced, and our shops provide that safe space to address such matters. Anyone keen to join the TaxAssist network as one of our franchisees, should attend one of our Virtual Discovery Days. This will enable them to find out more about the technical, marketing and business development support that we offer.”
