Harriet Minter and Home Instead endorse the world of franchising

Leading home care provider joins forces with well-known author to create four information-packed films promoting the sector.

There are few more proactive franchises around than Home Instead. The leading home care franchise in the UK certainly doesn’t allow the grass to grow under its feet. Earlier this year the company collaborated with well-known broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh, and enjoyed positive exposure via ITV’s Love Your Garden programme.

And Home Instead has followed up this successful venture by announcing that they have teamed-up with journalist and author, Harriet Minter, to deliver a series of informative films about franchising. Harriet is well known for her interest in a variety of issues relating to women, namely the media, careers and diversity. In this collaboration with Home Instead she will explore the opportunity of starting a career in franchising.

Titled ‘Be Your Own Boss‘ (#beyourownboss), there are four episodes and these include various discussions with Ruth Brown, who is the business development director at Home Instead. The two women explain why franchising is such a great opportunity, how it works, and who makes the perfect franchisee.

Harriet will also be in conversation with Andrew Bratessani, head of franchising at HSBC UK. This particular chat will discuss funding options, as well as other important entrepreneurial topics.

The four-episode series will include an interview with Suhail and Tasnim Rehman, who control a number of territories within the Home Instead network. The couple will describe their franchise journey, and how they have achieved great success and growth with their businesses.

The final episode will witness Harriet talking to Imogen Clarke, head of franchise development at Home Instead. Reflecting on the series, Ruth Brown said: “Our partnership with Harriet Minter aims to raise awareness around franchising and also the opportunities it presents. Hopefully it will introduce franchising to an audience who may not know much about this sector.

“Franchising in the UK is very successful, but there is a large percentage of the population who are unaware about how it works. Our campaign is educational, aimed at providing as much franchising information as is possible to a wide audience among the UK population.”

Meanwhile, Home Instead has been ranked third in the Health & Social Care’s 20 Best Companies to Work For list of 2021. This category recognises a company’s commitment to its employees. It also moved 62 places up the table to 25th in the list of Best Small Companies to Work For in the UK.

People director at Home Instead, Karen Dakin, said, “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised in these categories. It shows that our strong values have clearly shone through and that we are recognised as being a forward-facing company. Keeping staff engaged has always been one of our top priorities.”

Home Instead‘s chief executive, Martin Jones, added: “I’m a firm believer in keeping your team motivated and inspired, and that’s one reason why we place so much importance on employee engagement. We will maintain this spirit and continue working as a team to change the face of ageing.”

The company have one of the highest ratios of head office team members to franchisees, which is paramount to providing the best quality support for their business partners.
